Description

As portrayed by the above illustration, the Caelucetea is a colossal creature of seemingly impossible size, easily dwarfing smaller landmasses in Gamindustri.

How such an enormous creature could be capable of flight and how it could survive in Gamindustri's conditions has been the subject of much speculation, as the creatures have never been properly dissected and thoroughly studied before. First off, what little fossils Gamindustri possesses do not show any sort of ancient ancestor for the monsters, telling us nothing about what its physiology may have resembled. Second, very few specimens are ever found in our skies, and in the rare instance that they drift too close to land, the creatures seem to succumb to Gamindustri's gravitational pull, crash into land, and die within minutes. Their bodies collapse under their own immense weight, and whatever organs or body parts that can be harvested are too damaged to be studied. Third, in order to quickly avoid the health risks brought with a giant rotting carcass, the corpse is set ablaze at extreme temperatures, leaving a large swath of land absolutely scorched.

What we do know for now is taken from simple observational data. We can see that the giant creatures can generate a powerful electromagnetic field with the spines on its back, making it an extreme hazard for skyfaring vessels due to the damage it can cause to aircrafts without EM shielding; this is also the reason why there are no photos taken of the creature up close. Oddly enough, old records claim that moving a little too close to the whales [presumably using the non-electronic flying vessels used back in the day] can cause one's vessel to involuntarily move towards and collide with it. Also, it is recorded that the creatures' surface is actually home to smaller creatures not found anywhere on Gamindustri, and that it possesses an "unnaturally invigorating atmosphere."

The much smaller flying animals it eats are the size of sand grains and are just as alien as the Caelucetea itself. They have very clear, vaguely insectoid bodies and are relatively transparent in daylight, though they are bioluminescent and resemble clouds of blue embers at nighttime [jokingly called "krillex" due to the flashing patterns they form during flight en masse]. When a Caelucetea feeds on them, no inhaling motion is observed. Rather, the whales simply move close, open their collossal maws, and the so-called krillex are sucked in like a vacuum. This odd feeding method, coupled with the whales' possession of a biosphere and a small atmosphere, have led most leading minds to theorize that the Caelucetea actually generates a gravitational field of their own, and can even manipulate it at will.

So, due to its own gravitational power and its ability to generate electricity, a Caelucetea that exhibits too much of both abilities can cause powerful supercell storms to form, though thankfully they often leave with the creature and do not linger like normal supercells. On a smaller scale, Caelucetea can simply cause lightning storms.

The origins of the Caelucetea are still a topic of hypothesizing, debate, and speculation. What little know of its physiology already tell us that it is unlike anything that has ever existed on Gamindustri, and so are the krillex that it feeds on, including the smaller creatures that live in its own biosphere. One baffling observation shows that they descend from the heavens, fueling the proverbial flames of this absolutely alien lifeform; the only plausible explanation behind its existence, one that is widely accepted, is that the Caelucetea and the species it associates itself with are all extraterrestrial in origin. Not only that, information collected from hasty studies made on one whale's carcass show that they are capable of withstanding the conditions of deep space, suggesting that they may actually be spacefaring as well.

Scientists are excited to know of the origins of such a baffling creature. Could there possibly be another world capable of supporting life out there? If so, what extraordinary conditions could have allowed the evolution of a creature such as the Caelucetea? Could there then be even more incredible beasts roaming this alien world? New discoveries are being unearthed to this day, and we may soon be given our answers...

This was only taken with my crappy camera, so I apologize for the sucky quality. I wish I didn't ink that blue yoshee, though. It looks a little out of place...
I have to point out that this version is much, much larger than its first rendition [<da:thumb id="455052308">], since I wanted something so large it could be considered a planetoid. As for how this ties in with the monster entries you guys have submitted, well, just consider it as something foreshadowing what's to come. Monster hunting, here we go~ :la:

At first glance I thought that was the Wind Fish from The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening...please don't hunt the Wind Fish.
